About the role

The CCTV Monitoring Operator is a critical part of Sbeko Security’s surveillance team, responsible for real-time monitoring of multiple sites to ensure safety, detect suspicious activity, and coordinate swift responses. Working from our centralized control room, the operator must remain alert and focused at all times. This role requires strong observational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to follow strict protocols under pressure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor live CCTV footage from various client sites and company facilities
  • Identify and report suspicious, unusual, or criminal activity in real time
  • Communicate with on-site security personnel and emergency services when necessary
  • Keep accurate records and logs of incidents, observations, and system checks
  • Ensure all camera systems are functioning properly; report faults immediately
  • Follow company procedures for alarms, emergencies, and escalations
  • Maintain confidentiality of all video footage and data
  • Provide recorded footage to clients or investigators as required, following protocol
  • Collaborate with supervisors and respond swiftly to operational instructions
  • Maintain cleanliness and discipline within the control room environment

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric certificate (essential)
  • PSIRA Grade C (minimum) – Control Room Certificate required
  • 1–2 years of experience in a control room or surveillance environment
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to remain alert for long periods
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with CCTV software and digital monitoring systems
  • Ability to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays
  • Clear criminal record
  • Ability to work under pressure and make sound decisions in emergencies
  • Knowledge of security procedures and incident reporting protocols
